The Korean hotel operator has snapped up the Westin San Jose, better known as the Sainte-Claire Hotel, and paid $64 million for the iconic property. Aju Hotels & Resorts, a company controlled by the Korean Investment Corporation, the parent company of Ajinomoto, has bought the historic West in the San Francisco Bay Area, according to local media reports.
Aju, a hospitality company, is under the umbrella of the Korean Investment Corporation, Ajinomoto's parent company, according to the company's website. The company's website lists the Westin San Jose as part of its Bay Area and Japan hotel portfolio.
According to the Alameda County real estate website, it was last listed on April 5, 2006 for $625,000, or $381 per square foot. Victory Blvd., was built in the 1950s and last sold in 2006 for about $349,500. It is located about half a mile north of Westin San Jose and about an hour south of San Francisco.
